SS20 predicted trend research and initial development

Selected trend
The design range comprises of several upcoming trends of accessories, soft volume bag, ruffles, and the water world. Using plastic as the main material to create more lightly feels for the summer collection and the conscious of sustainability. Combing the existed forms of soft and ruffled bags with simplified structured parts to explore more identity from the category.

Inspiration origin from the research of the underwater scene and the treasure hunting elements. The free form of water waves, tracks of underwater sands and shells transferred into the basic concept of the structure, ruffled and stuffed part combined with a simple plate. Single colour for the whole bag to remain the simplicity of Zara product pattern and makes the detail stand out more, for which the single colour tend to be dark but soft, ambiguous as less sunshine can achieve under water. The outline proportions of the bag are moderate as a general handbag, while propositions between the very contrast parts are critical for maintaining the balance and the aesthetics. Transparent, thin, silky plastic is chosen to present the pleats and hold the stuffings, shaping from shells. Lambskin for the structured plate to gain more visual weight and quality against the pleated plastic area to achieve balance. From the treasure hunting themes, recycled or rusted metal gold fastening are chosen as details for highlighting the dark colour bag and strengthen the concept of the theme.
